The introduction of Distributed Optical Fibre Sensing in experimental testing reinforced concrete structures has enabled the acquisition measurements with an unparalleled level detail, providing accurate and ubiquitous description cracking deflections throughout element. However, most available research using this technology focused on study beam specimens high quality data for calibration development models that can describe accurately behaviour D-regions service is still lacking. For reason, application distributed optical fibre sensing remains a subject interest. In work method deployment sensors multilayer configuration presented wall An interpolation approach then proposed, which combined nature detailed heat maps global principal strain fields. results indicated shear strains reveal position cracks well before they are formed whereas maximum minimum clearly show crack pattern as load transfer mechanisms including, first time, identification secondary strut-and-tie mechanisms.
